File Format Best Practices

Accepted File Formats

We accept the following file types for print:

  • PDF: Print-ready with embedded fonts, bleeds, and crop marks
  • AI / EPS: Adobe Illustrator or vector artwork (fonts outlined, images embedded)
  • INDD: Adobe InDesign package (include fonts and linked images)
  • TIFF / JPG: High-resolution images (300 DPI)
  • PNG: Only for digital or transparency effects (not ideal for print)
Note: Remember to always export your design as a high-quality PDF with bleeds and crop marks. Minimum 300 DPI (dots per inch) for all images and raster graphics.

Fonts & Text

  • Embed or Outline Fonts: To avoid missing or substituted fonts, convert your text to outlines or ensure fonts are embedded.
  • Minimum Font Size: Use a minimum of 6 pt for readability.
  • Avoid using rich black for small text, as it may cause blurring; use 100% K (Black) instead.

Rich Black vs Standard Black

  • Standard Black (100% K): Best for text and fine lines.
  • Rich Black (recommended for large solid areas): Suggested build: C:60 M:40 Y:40 K:100

Additional Considerations

  • Spot Colors & Pantone Matching If you’re using specific Pantone colors, let us know in advance. We support PMS color matching for consistent branding.

  • Transparency & Effects
    • Flatten transparencies, when possible, to avoid unexpected results.
    • Be cautious with shadow effects, glows, and overlays — always review a proof.

  • File Transfer & Uploads
    • Files under 25MB can be emailed directly.
    • Larger files can be uploaded securely via ourFile Upload Portal or shared via services like WeTransfer or Dropbox.
